Abbreviated Curriculum Vitae:
Expertise in Teaching
I have extensive background in English language teaching and content areas in applied linguistics at both institutional and university levels. For more than fourteen years, I taught English to students at various English language centers from beginning to advanced levels; I also taught English courses in which I prepared the students for taking high-stake exams. In all these courses, I helped students boost their language skills including speaking and writing. As a language teacher trainer, I developed and taught Teacher Training Courses (TTC) at Kish Day Foreign Languages Center. I have also taught several undergraduate and graduate courses in applied linguistics at Florida State University, such as “Applied Linguistics for Second Language Learning”, Cross-Cultural Communication for Foreign/Second Language Teachers”, “English to Speakers of Other languages (ESOL) Instruction in the Content Area”, and Foreign and Second Language Testing and Evaluation”.
Expertise in Research
My research expertise focuses on social and psychological aspects of language learning with a focus on L2 writing skill. In my research, I investigate the roles students’ motivation, emotions, and cognition play in their L2 learning success in general and L2 writing development, in particular. For instance, I have a paper published in the Journal of Second Language Writing, in which my advisor and I proposed a theoretical model that links students’ L2 writing future selves, emotional experiences, motivation, and L2 writing achievement. I have also presented my research findings at multiple international and national conferences, such as American Association of Applied Linguistics (AAAL) and Second Language Research Forum (SLRF).
